Section 6: Chapter 10 & Chapter 11 Summary
In Chapter 10, Bennett hopes that things will be better in Hopewell as she watches Harper skip ahead of her, and she knows "if anyone could help her find a way back from the dark road she had traveled, it was Nest" (pg. 122.) While Harper plays, Penny approaches Bennett and introduces herself, but when Bennett tries to leave because she does not feel comfortable with this young woman, Penny offers her drugs. Though Bennett tries to walk away, she closes her eyes, lacking the strength to continue refusing, and when she opens them, she sees the Indian.
