Section 4: Chapter 6 & Chapter 7 Summary
In Chapter 6, Nest struggles with the idea that Bennett Scott has returned after ten years. Bennett hoped it would be alright if she showed up without calling first because Nest is her big sister, and she introduces Nest to her daughter, Harper. After Harper goes to sleep, Bennett tells Nest that she ran away after her mother died, and she became a drug addict. She checked into rehab when she learned she was pregnant, but she never manages to get off the drugs and is forced to leave Harper with whoever will keep her when she decides to try getting clean again. Nest offers to keep Harper and invites both of them to stay as long as they need. When Bennett emerges from her bath, Nest announces she will return around 8 or 9 p.m. Leaving her house, Nest sees...
