Section 3: Chapter 4 & Chapter 5 Summary
In Chapter 4, as she walks the cliffs in Sinnissippi Park behind her house, Pick chides her irritably for taking so long. She ignores the irritation of the 165-year-old sylvan whose job is to "balance the magic that was centered [in the park] so that all living things could coexist in the way the Word had intended" (pg. 44.) Pick warns her that trouble is brewing because the feeders, who feed off the energy given by the expenditure of emotions, are out in large numbers, and Nest tells him about Gask since the demon's presence likely accounts for the feeders. Nest cannot leave Hopewell because she belongs in the park, working with Pick. As they walk around the park, Nest wishes her life could be as peaceful, but it cannot because of Wraith.
