Summary
Chapter 13 is a letter from Don in which he tells Jessica he has received the newspaper clipping from her but doubts it was the only thing in the envelope. He hopes Jessica’s life is improving like his is. He has a new cellmate named Hector Ramirez who does not have hygiene problems. In his conclusion Don tells Jessica that although he knows she has lost a good deal, he does not want her to become broken by her misfortune like his misfortune caused him to become broken.
In Chapter 14, although Ethan generally likes his co-worker John Guan, he tells him to get lost after Guan hacks into his Blackberry and asks questions about the pictures of Zoe he finds there. He is picking Guan’s brain about variables and odds to add to his drone strike algorithm.
