Summary

In Chapter 10, Zoe calls Ethan telling him that her father had told her she should call him. When Ethan begins to ask if Dr. Leston is dead, Zoe assumes Ethan knew what was about to happen and accuses him of being heartless. She believes she might have been able to stop what her father had in mind if Ethan had told her. Realizing the doctor has killed himself, Ethan tells Zoe that he only knew that her father was sick. Zoe’s further comments reveal to Ethan that Dr. Leston not only killed himself but gave his wife a lethal dose of medication as well.

Four days later, on the way to the funeral service for Zoe’s parents, Alex tells Ethan that he cannot give Zoe the manila envelope without at least reading what was inside it. Alex looks at the material...
