Christopher (Kit) Noonan

Christopher (Kit) Noonan is the protagonist in the story. He is a 40-year-old man who worked as a college professor but lost his job when he failed to make tenure. Kit suffers from a mild depression about his situation and this puts pressure on his home life. His wife suggests that he take a trip to find himself, and, hopefully, come back ready to engage in life again. His wife hopes that he will be able to find information about the biological father he never knew that will make him whole again.

Kit is a mild-mannered person and does not pressure people so it is against his nature to pry and dig into private places where he feels he does not have a right to be. That is why it is difficult for him to try to find out any information about his biological father.
