Summary
Chapter 21 shifts to Ali’s perspective on the night of April 26th, 2017, the third day of the trial. With her children asleep, Ali scans the newspaper headlines, remembering Kate’s big case. Included in the lurid details is mention of the fact that Mrs. Whitehouse was absent from the day’s proceedings, a fact which Ali finds odd.
