Summary

Jack is at Le Grand Leon, and he hears a knock on the door. It is Jeanette, and she is in tremendous pain. When Hazel examines her belly, she notices an infected wound from stitches. Jeanette says that the stitches are from when she was a child. Hazel treats the infection but says that she does not know why Jeanette has stopped receiving her menstrual cycle. Around the time of the pain, Jeanette had a dream where she was on a table underneath a veil while a man with one eye stood above her with a big knife. The next thing she knew she was in her own bed.

Hazel tells Jeanette to bring any friends who need treatment to her. She does, and Hazel begins treating many patients. Eventually, a patient with the Roman Fever comes. Hazel cannot become ill because...
