Miami is the city in Florida where Mireille lives with her husband and son. Mireille is not able to stay at their home in Miami when she first returns to the United States after she was kidnapped. She instead goes to her in-laws’ home. Years later, Mireille is at a restaurant in Miami when she recognizes the Commander working as a busboy there. She confronts him and beats him for what he did to her. When Michael realizes who the busboy is, the Commander runs away, demonstrating how weak he is.

When Mireille and her husband leave the Duval estate in Haiti to take Christophe to the beach, they are stopped by armed men driving black SUVs. These men kidnap Mireille at gunpoint with her husband and child watching.
