Summary
In Chapter 41, Mireille spent six months with Lorraine and Glen who took care of her the way her parents should have. Mireille did only one interview about her captivity. There was an unauthorized movie made about her experience. She found the movie a comfort because it suggested her trauma was easily resolved. Mireille went to several therapists. Only one told her the truth, that she would never be fully healed.
Because Mireille was unable to carry another child, she and Michael found a surrogate to carry their daughter, Emma Lorraine. Mireille raised her daughter to be a strong woman. She described an earthquake that destroyed a good deal of Haiti. Her parents were not injured. Mireille tried to go to Haiti to visit her parents, but Mireille panicked too badly.
