Summary

In Chapter 10, is set on Wednesday, November 28 and told from the point of view of Shields. Shields notes where Jess chooses to sit and that she does not appear to be nervous.

Shields indicates at this phase of her study she is trying to encourage Jess to trust her. Shields is surprised when Jess stops in telling the story of her life to comment that she likes the nail polish Shields is wearing. Shields indicates that Jess’ use of defection and flattery indicates that Shields’ plan is working. She has decided to suspend her original study and focus just on Jess.
