Summary

In the Preface, there is an open invitation to females aged 18-32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality. Generous compensation is promised along with the guarantee of anonymity.

The narrator next suggests it is easy to judge another person’s choices without considering what that person might be going through. Several scenarios are offered. A mother who yells at her child is viewed one way until the observer learns that the mother just lost her job. A man who cheats on his wife is view in one way but there is a difference of opinion if it is because his wife refuses to be intimate with him. The narrator asks the reader to suspend his assumptions, particularly about a woman who sells her secrets for money.
