Chapters 5 and 6 Summary
In Chapter 5, Hassan is driving as the boys leave Kentucky and continue to head south. They decide to exit the highway at the exit where they can see the grave of Archduke Franz Ferdinand—the corpse that started World War I. The boys are in Tennessee. Colin calls his mom to tell her where they are and to see if "anyone," meaning Katherine called for him. The boys arrive where the Archduke tour is and it is a convenient store. The clerk behind the counter is their tour guide. As Hassan and Colin are following the tour guide behind the convenient store, Colin trips and falls, hitting his head on a rock. The tour guide, take offs her t-shirt, applies pressure to the wound, says she is a paramedic in training. She leaves the two boys and says she'll return...
