Summary
Chapter 10 returns to Marie’s time in Martinique in 1992. She is very tense and jumpy, fearing that perhaps her political enemies have pursued her to this country. Marie asks Agathe to raise her children for her as she begins to plan a new mission. Marie recalls Helene’s funeral, when she was surprised to connect with the also-grieving Daniel Slater. At Marie’s request, her old boyfriend Robbie Young flies out to Martinique, and she feels more comfortable with him around.
Chapter 11 returns to Marie’s first undercover mission, in 1987. She poses as a guide at the United Nations for the Burkina Faso delegation. In the studious chambers of the United Nations, Sankara gives a professional and optimistic speech about the state of his country.
