Chapter 6 Summary

Shadow sees starlight. He is riding on his carousel animal, and they are moving toward a hall. The men with him, Czernobog, Wednesday, and Mr. Nancy, are actually gods living in America. He looks around and realizes he can see each of the natures of the gods. Mr. Nancy looks like an elderly man, but also a spider, a young man, and a boy. He is the African god, Anansi. The mounts from the carousel take the riders up the hill to a hall. Wednesday reveals himself to Shadow as the Norse god Odin, also called All-Father. There are only about ten gods waiting for them in the hall, and Wednesday is upset there aren't more. Mr. Nancy tells them one of his legends about a tiger to warm up the crowd.
