Summary
Frank and Alan are two young lawyers who are just starting their careers. They live in New York City and enjoy going out to a number of restaurants, bars, and clubs while sleeping in on the weekends. Both of their fathers are successful lawyers. Alan is from Cleveland, and his father had already made himself known there as a "big-time lawyer from the city" who wore expensive suits, drove a nice car, smoked cigars, and was Jewish (125). Frank's father had lunch at the Four Seasons multiple times a week.
Frank and Alan discuss the attractive woman who works reception at their office. A former receptionist, Brenda, had had a relationship with Frank before.
