Summary
In Chapter 27, when they were far enough away from the compound, they stopped so Dougie could check Clyde’s wound. Dougie announced that it was a shot clean through the muscles and that none of the bones were involved. After Clyde went to sleep as a result of the pain medicine that Dougie had given him, Dougie took a nap as well. Cohen admitted to Sydney that he had never thought he was the type of person who would want to pull a person’s fingernails out. Sydney told Cohen that he could not judge himself from that one moment when he wanted to hurt someone, particularly someone who wanted to kill him.
The vet and two techs met Cohen, Sydney, and Dougie as they pulled up outside the office. The vet let Dougie stay with Clyde in surgery but Cohen and Sydney...
