Summary
In “On Watch,” as Jeremy Kane rocked his infant daughter to sleep, he felt far away from the war in Iraq that had left him with a bad leg and bad memory. Even though he had not been able to fulfill his dream of being a doctor, he had a job he enjoyed with Denver’s Regional Transportation District.
The peaceful feeling was destroyed when Kane received a call from Lester Crowe, a buddy from the war, who lived in a state of paranoia. Kane was immediately scared when Crowe told him that somebody was following him, trying to kill him. Since Kane had begun digging into what happened in Iraq and had learned how badly things had gone, he was afraid he had put his entire team in danger.
Crowe warned Kane to stay on watch. Iraq had come back...
