Summary
Part III starts with Chapter 22’s return to the apologetic Dean’s office, where Miranda has been summoned again to meet with Briana and her family to address Briana’s allegations against the easygoing Miranda. She describes Briana’s parents as parodic versions of the luxurious, high-status lifestyle, who spoil their daughter with kid-glove treatment. Briana rejects Miranda’s goodwill convinced that she does not want Briana in the play. To assure Briana that she is wrong, Miranda grandly welcomes Briana back and offers her the role of the King, which Briana glumly accepts and then bursts into tears. After Briana leaves with her family, Fauve asks to stay behind for an additional matter, and proceeds to extract a plastic bag containing Miranda’s red silk thong, left onstage after her night with Hugo.
