Summary

Chapter 17 picks up the next day with Ellie dropping by Miranda’s office as requested. In an awkward and overdramatic manner Miranda explains the need for a change, and given Briana’s absence, credits Ellie’s brilliant recent work as Helen as the reason for wanting her to replace Briana in the lead. Ellie feels guilty about stealing the part, but Miranda assures her that Briana will not be back and that the show must go on. On the way out, Ellie gives Miranda another baggie of herbal bath mix, who praises the wonderous effects of the baths, even with the previous stuffed unused in her glove compartment. At the grocery store later, Miranda buzzes through the aisles picking up ingredients for another gourmet meal to cook for herself.
