Chapter 29

This chapter shows Tobias in a holding cell with some of the other conspirators. He feels sick to his stomach, then asks Reggie, one of the conspirators, if Nita has told him the truth, about wanting to steal the memory serum. His silence speaks volumes to him and not for the first time he regrets not listening to Tris.

Tris comes down to the prison and the guards recognize her as 'the girl that saved David' and they allow her to speak to Tobias, even though it is against the rules. She doesn't mince words and tells him that because of his actions Uriah will most likely die. Tris tells Tobias that she isn't sure that she can ever forgive him for what he's done. A council meets to interrogate the captives and releases everyone but Nita, claiming that they are GD...
