Summary

Chapter 15

Tris realizes that the man standing with her mother in the picture she'd gotten from Zoe is David. This man attempts to explain the parameters and justification for the 'experiment' that they were all a part of. There was a war, he tells them, between the genetically pure (GP) and those that were Genetically Damaged. People's genetic material became 'corrupted' because of all the testing that was allowed onto the market without sufficient testing. The result was that many people were affected horribly. It was hoped that if they took the genetically pure and isolated them from the damaged that eventually nature would correct what they'd messed up. In essence, the faction systems were one giant social and scientific experiment.

Tris finds herself growing angrier with each revelation. All of the misery that they'd endured had been for nothing, in her estimation...
