Summary

In Chapter 40, Kyle nudges Kimberly and Sam toward each other. Later, he finds Marley at the fountain eating lunch. He tells her that he has one last thing to say and he will leave her alone if she wants him to after that. Kyle says he believes there is a reason Marley chose to talk to him and a reason he was able to hear her. He says he fell in love with her in that other world and that he believes that is really Marley, not a character from her stories. Marley says “No,” and Kyle is initially so happy to hear her speak that he does not realize what she said. She goes on, saying she does not deserve to be happy because of Laura.
