Summary
In Chapter 19, Lydia helps Kyle choose a new jacket for his job interview. Lydia talks about the fact that Kyle lost a lot when his shoulder injury took him out of football, eliminating his dream of playing college football. She says that Kyle lost more when Kimberly died. She assures him he was strong enough to survive both of those things and can face whatever lies ahead. The next morning, Scott Miller hires him on the spot, agreeing to have Kyle work part time and begin with writing profiles. Kyle feels this is a positive step and rushes to call Marley. He impetuously buys a yellow kite which he and Marley fly in the park. Kyle asks Marley to help him hand out Halloween candy, saying Lydia will be out of town. She agrees, they kiss, and the kite flies away. It begins...
