Victor
Victor is one of the most central characters in the narrative, although he is comatose or dead for the entirety of the present-day storyline. In the main storyline, Victor is a man in his early seventies. His main traits are that he is abusive, aggressive, misogynistic, and generally immoral. He used to be a successful businessperson, although it eventually became clear that he often relied on illegal business practices. Also, he often sexually harassed female employees, he sometimes physically hit them, and he eventually lost a majority of his wealth to subsequent lawsuits against him. Victor was consistently abusive towards his wife and children, as he often attacked them physically and verbally. Victor suffers a heart attack at the beginning of the novel and becomes comatose. The other characters are glad when he dies a couple days later.
