Structure
The structure of All They Will Call You is non-linear in order to reveal not only the events of the tragic plane crash, but also how the media covered the event and how family members have since responded to the deaths of their beloveds. Generally speaking, the book bounces between the events leading up to and surrounding the plane crash, principally the 1940s but also reaching as far back as the 1910s and 1920s, and the 2013-2015 present in which the author, Tim Z. Hernandez, is conducting his interviews and research. These storylines are often linked because it is only through the conversations with family members and through archival research that Hernandez is able to uncover the truth of what happened on January 28, 1948.
