Nic Farrell
Nic is the novel’s main character and its narrator. Throughout the narrative, she attempts to make readers view her as a sympathetic character who goes through a metamorphosis as she discovers that she is the person who killed Corinne in a hit-and-run accident. In reality, though, Nic is a calculating woman who does what she needs to do for her own wellbeing. At the end of the novel, it is questionable as to whether Nic brings her father home, stays with Tyler, and covers for her brother Daniel’s wife, Laura, because she wants to pay her debts or realizes that things have gotten out of control and she needs to keep everyone close to her to make sure that no one reveals her secret.
