Summary

Beatriz takes the rooster to her father’s greenhouse and asks Francisco to keep the bird there for a while. He agrees and decides not to ask many questions about Beatriz came upon owning such an angry rooster. Francisco knows his daughter needs to talk to him about something, but the only question Beatriz can get out of her mouth is whether or not Francisco is in love with Antonia. He does not answer the question, and Beatriz loses herself in her own fearful thoughts related to the confusing feelings she has for Pete. Joaquin calls her over because Tony and Pete found a note from Daniel. It is places far away from Bicho Raro and away from any roads. It says, “Marisita. I’m listening. Daniel” (146).
