Changes in a Post-Pandemic World

The novel demonstrates how a major, world-wide pandemic event has dramatic effects on the world. The “superflu” has wiped out most of the world's population. Left in shambles, survivors try to build new lives.

Remarkably, a few things remain the same after the pandemic. However, as would be expected, most aspects of life have changed. For example, when Andrew first arrives at Jamie's cabin, he is amazed that there is power and a decent supply of food.
