Chapter 15 Summary
Scarpetta has both Abby and Marino to dinner that night. Abby and Marino immediately begin to argue, so Scarpetta gives them some time to work out their differences before they discuss anything. Abby had spent the day investigating the salesman whose car Marino traced the license plates to. Abby discovered through a picture in the man's house that he is not the man who stopped her and Scarpetta for directions. Marino decides to speak to the man the next day and learns he was in fact out of town and his car was in long term parking at the airport. Marino thinks the man who stopped Scarpetta was a drug dealer using stolen plates to avoid detection. Scarpetta does not agree. Scarpetta believes the man who stopped her was the killer.
