Chapter 13 Summary
Scarpetta drives to Anna's house where she has been invited for dinner. Although Anna is her doctor, Anna is also a good friend to Scarpetta and they often have dinner together. Scarpetta feels out of place telling Anna she has legal right to her patient files, so she puts it off until after dinner. Anna tells Scarpetta about Jill without going through the legal route, simply explaining that Jill was her patient. Jill was having a sexual relationship with Elizabeth Mott and was uncomfortable with it because she knew her family would not approve. Jill had told Anna that she and Elizabeth would often go to the bar where they were last seen alive to have discussions about their relationships. This is most likely what they were doing that night.
