Chapter 12 Summary
Abby contacts Scarpetta and arranges to meet her for lunch in Williamsburg. Abby is surprised that Scarpetta would focus on the Harrington-Mott murders because they do not seem to fit the couple killer's MO. The women were older than the other victims, they were both female, and they were found immediately rather than months later. However, they were killed with a knife and gun, like Deborah Harvey. Abby tells Scarpetta that there was blood found in the car that was assumed at the time to belong to the killer, suggesting one of the women managed to hurt him. Abby says they were never seen at the hotel and never took a room there. Abby suggests that the women picked up their killer sometime after leaving the bar and never saw the motel.
