Chapter 3 Summary
A week later, Benton Wesley invites Scarpetta and Marino to his home for dinner in order to discuss the case. On the way, Marino tells Scarpetta that Mrs. Harvey called a psychic to help with the case. Hilda Ozimek is a psychic used by the FBI on several occasions, a fact Mrs. Harvey most likely knew. However, when Scarpetta asks Wesley about this psychic, he refuses to tell her anything Ozimek told Mrs. Harvey. Wesley also tells Scarpetta and Marino that they found a receipt from a convenience store in Deborah Harvey's car that led them to a store not too far from the rest stops. Here they learned that the clerk sold Deborah and Fred a box of tampons and then sent them to the rest stop because customers are not allowed to use the rest rooms at the store. It is...
