Toronto, 2016
This city is the primary setting in both versions of reality. Tom and John both live here along with their families and both versions of Penelope. It is also the headquarters of Victor’s Chrononaut Institute. The two versions of Toronto bear little resemblance to each other; in the old reality it is extremely technologically advanced while in the new reality it resembles the version of Toronto we, as readers, are familiar with. Tom misses the technology of the old Toronto, but prefers his relationships in the new one. Through Tom’s efforts as an architect, he begins to construct the Toronto he is familiar with, gaining the best of both worlds.
