Summary
In Chapter 59, Misbah had many regrets before she died. In Chapter 60, the jury find Salahudin guilty. The court suspends his sentence for everything except selling heroin, for which the sentence is five years. Martin explains that he will probably serve only eighteen months in state prison. In Chapter 61, two months later, Noor moves to the University of California, Los Angeles. She strikes up an instant friendship with her roommate, Neelum, who encourages her to start reading books. In Chapter 62, time drags for Sal in prison, but his wariness of physical contact makes him quick to defend himself, so no one bullies him much.
