Summary
In Chapter 18, Misbah and Toufiq moved out of his parents’ house after his mother came home drunk. Over time, Misbah developed a close relationship with her father-in-law, who – along with her own father – used to visit the couple regularly. In Chapter 19, Salahudin reflects on how easy it has been to make money from selling drugs. He is nervous about getting caught – and particularly afraid of Noor finding out – but he has started paying bills. He and Noor accidentally touch and almost kiss, but a noise from his new phone (which he uses for dealing) interrupts them. Noor thinks it is odd that he has a second phone. In Chapter 20, Noor goes to the mosque after being rejected from another college, leaving only one more (UCLA) to hear from.
