Summary

In Part 3, Chapter 19, Harris informs the narrator he will “be spending one night a week” at his office (221). On the phone, the narrator tells Jordi she thinks he is having an affair with Caro. On Harris’s first Monday away from home, the narrator tries focusing on Sam, but feels sad and overwhelmed. She fears that Sam will soon blame her for her distraction. When Harris returns, she and Sam are making cupcakes. She hopes Harris will eat one and everything will return to normal.

In Chapter 20, over the following two weeks, Harris will not look at the narrator. They barely talk, and she fears Sam is aware.
