Summary

This section of the book begins with the prologue-like “Dear Little Brother,” an open letter from the author to his younger brother. In it, the author thanks his brother for being supportive and open and loving. He apologizes for any additional suffering or challenge that being the brother of an effeminate queer man who was often called “faggot” (124). He celebrates their history of companionship and sharing, and says that his brother is “living proof that it really isn’t as hard as most think to get along with and enjoy the company of people from different sexual identities” (125). He concludes by describing the relationship both men have with his brother’s baby son, who is referred to as Little G.
