Structure
The biography is told in chronological order starting from Alexander’s birth in 1755, to his death in 1804. It has 12 chapters, each one titled with a direct quote from the chapter itself, usually spoken by Alexander or one of the other prominent people, such as George Washington for Chapter Six, and Alexander’s doctor in Chapter Twelve. Even though the author occasionally deviates from following Alexander, everything is kept in historical order. From the Revolutionary War, to the ratification of the Constitution, and three presidential elections. The reader never gets lost in time as the author uses many dates for important events to place them on the historical timeline. The biography also contains a large variety of pictures - usually portraits - of famous men, women, and events.
