Summary

In Chapter 3, narrated by Josie, Josie was shocked when she woke and saw it was 8:30 in the morning. The ferry had been scheduled to leave at 6 a.m. She had trouble sleeping after Palmer’s proposal so she had taken an aspirin with a sleeping aid. She was sure she had set her alarm but when she checked it she had set it for p.m. instead of a.m.

Josie found a note that Marianne had left for her that indicated she had knocked on Josie’s door but had gotten no answer. Since Josie had not put out her suitcases, Marianne assumed Josie had decided to stay with Palmer. Josie reviewed her options and decided her problem was Palmer’s fault.
