Al Franken
A self-proclaimed "midwestern Jewish boy of humble roots," Al Franken grew up in suburban Minnesota with his middle class family (3). After earning his degree in behavioral sciences from Harvard, Franken moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of stand-up comedy with his longtime friend and stage partner Tom Davis, and his soon-to-be wife Franni. The Franken and Davis comedy duo gained notable success, resulting in an invitation to write for Lorne Michaels' groundbreaking new sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live, in 1975. Despite leaving the show with Lorne for a brief period, Franken ultimately worked on the show for fifteen seasons and worked in comedy for a total of thirty-five years.
