Moose/Matthew Flanagan

Matthew “Moose” Flanagan is a 12-year-old civilian resident of Alcatraz Island. He is the son of Cam, a prison guard, and Helen, a piano teacher, as well as the younger brother of Natalie. Moose is a good-hearted, well-liked kid who enjoys living at Alcatraz. He always tries to do the right thing, even if things do not always work out. The deal he strikes with Al Capone to get Natalie into the Marinoff School causes Moose to become temporarily indebted to Capone; and Moose later factors heavily into the escape attempt when he is taken as a hostage. At the same time, Moose begins to romantically come of age when he shares his first kiss with Piper and learns that Annie has a crush on him.
