Ahimsa
Ahimsa is one of the most important themes of the novel, as well as the title. Kelkar uses this theme to educate the young adult reader about the non-violence movement in India at the time, and what eventually freed India from the British colonial rule. Next, Kelkar uses this theme to show that it does, in fact, create change, and how effective it is. Finally, this theme proves that only through Ahimsa - and everyone working together side by side - is equality possible.
