Chapters 111 - 120 Summary

Una decides to visit Mary Starbuck. Since it has snowed, she dresses warmly for the long walk. As she climbs the hill, she wonders if the child she is carrying will die as the last one did.

In chapter 112, Una's child is delivered by Mrs. Maynard in April. She names the boy Justice and she watches him grow as she waits for Ahab to return.

In chapter 113, Ahab returns after a four year absence with a leg missing. The leg has not properly healed and the various ivory legs cause bleeding. Ahab tells Justice how his leg is in the stomach of the white whale called Moby Dick.

In chapter 114, Ahab stays in the birthing room so his moans don't bother Justice and the others. He talks about madness and death.
