Summary

The narrative switches to London, 2006. Neda is in London. She lives off of £100,000, which is always the number in her bank account no matter how much she spends, it always replenishes. She drinks excessively to cope. It has been two years since she has been in India.

The narrative moves to Delhi, 2003. Neda is working as a journalist at the Delhi Post, mostly writing small fluff stories. She has recently reconnected with an old friend from school, Hari, who is connected to Sunny Wadia, though Neda has no idea who this man is. Hari brings Neda to a party with Sunny, where the two meet and have an instant connection. Neda originally does not know where Sunny's money comes from, only that he funds infrastructure and the arts. His heart is set on modernizing Delhi, and making it a global capital.
