Summary
In Chapter 3, Antonia visits her sister Tilly. Antonia expresses her lamentations about no longer being employed. She also no longer volunteers for charitable organizations, as volunteerism had always been Sam’s idea, and Antonia cannot bring herself to volunteer in the wake of Sam’s death. However, Tilly is better at performing more practical tasks than she is at providing emotional solace. Izzy is proficient in providing emotional comfort, while Mona is good at making plans and offering practical advice. Antonia is unsure what skill she herself has to offer to her sisters, aside from a wide collection of literary quotations. Antonia and Tilly drive into town for lunch.
