Summary

In Chapter 31, the group at the hotel gets ready for the Eaters after hearing what the last patrol had to say. Claire and Brody exchange I loves yous. They go out into the city and find a huge crowd in a university tower.

In Chapter 32, the crowd is all made up of Eaters - hundreds of them around a bonfire (which should not be possible because up until now nothing requiring energy worked). Simon is their leader and he speaks to them all about his master and throws a helpless woman into the fire as the patrol watches. Simon calls the Eaters to band together and target anyone not with them.

In Chapter 33, Edmund and Isabella continue to work together and kill those that they manipulate in the world of the living once they arrive in the echo.
