Summary

In Chapter 11, Brody is puzzled about the world he is in now. He realizes that all the wounds he should have from the bomb and the fight with Raquel are not there. Brody wanders the city until he runs into a group that explains that Raquel and the rest of her group are Eaters. The group - Kyle, Antoine, and Lucy - decide that Brody means well and became an Eater by accident, when he killed Raquel in self-defense.

In Chapter 12, Edmund spends centuries in the echo, watching the living world change and eating more souls. He starts to prey upon the vulnerable, whispering to them until they commit terrible acts and he eats the souls of those they kill.
