Summary

A man named Katagiri comes home from work to discover an enormous six-foot-tall frog in his kitchen. The frog introduces himself, insisting Katagiri refer to him as Frog, and informs Katagiri that he has come on urgent business. Katagiri, a banker, immediately assumes that Frog is connected somehow to a gang, but Frog disabuses him of this notion. Katagiri confirms that Frog is a real frog, and Frog croaks to prove this. Then Frog explains that he has come to save the city of Tokyo from destruction. He tells Katagiri that an earthquake is coming in the next three days and that its nexus will be directly beneath the Tokyo Trust Security Bank where Katagiri works. He tells Katagiri that they must go underground below the bank to do “mortal combat with Worm” (96).
