Summary
A woman named Satsuki is traveling on a plane to Bangkok, Thailand. She is in the midst of experiencing a hot flash when the stewardess asks over the intercom if there are any doctors on board. Satsuki, who is a professional pathologist, weighs whether or not she should speak up. She ultimately decides that it is her duty to contribute whatever she can.
Satsuki is on her way to the World Thyroid Conference at the Bangkok Marriott, where she intends to spend time with her thyroid specialist friends from Detroit. Satsuki lived and studied in America for some time before going through an excruciating divorce with her husband, who insisted he left her in part because she would not have children.
